We all have bad hair days, those days when you try flipping your bangs to the left, and two seconds later the hair goes back to the right, leaving you with a part in the middle. But you haven't worn your hair parted in the middle since 2002, so why does your hair suddenly remember that style?
I have no idea.
Sometimes hair does that, for absolutely no reason, at least not an obvious one. While we can only speculate on the cause of a bad hair day, I think it's more productive to concentrate on how to fix it:
Problem: Your hair is naturally wavy and you usually blow dry it straight. Today it's not cooperating and now it's all frizzy.
Solution: At this point, stop the heat. If the frizz is really bad, wet your hair again and start over. While your hair is still wet, apply an anti-frizz product (very little, otherwise your hair will get greasy), and wait until your hair is almost dry before you blow dry it again. Finish styling with a flat iron as it helps tame the frizz and adds shine to the hair.
Problem: You were planning on washing your hair, but something came up, you have 10 minutes to get ready and your hair looks oily.
Solution: Rub a little talcum powder at the roots, just don't put too much otherwise it will be noticeable (especially if you have dark hair). Tips: for touchups during the day you can use face oil-blotting strips on your hair.
Problem: Your hair is straight and lately it's laying flat against your scalp.
Solution: The hair has too much grease in it. Use a deep-cleaning shampoo to prevent build-up.
Problem: Your hair is dry from the cold weather and it looks very dull.
Solution: Use a shine enhancer before you style your hair.
Problem: Your hair is extremely limp.
Solution: Rinse your hair again, you probably used too much conditioner.
Problem: You take your hat off and suddenly you have static hair.
Solution: Run a fabric softner sheet on your hair and re-use it as needed during this horrible day. Also, spray an anti-static product inside the hat.
Problem: You take your hat off, but this time you have hat hair!
Solution: Use mousse to style your hair. After you take your hat off, re-activate the mousse (and some volume) by massaging your scalp with damp fingers. Tip: Never put your hat on wet hair.
Problem: Your long, thick, curly hair is unruly today.
Solution: Wear a headband. It will tame the hair and you will instantly look more polished.
When nothing else seems to work, tie your hair in a low ponytail or wear a baseball hat.

Thanks for the tips - usually I just chuck on a hat...but I'll have to try these :-)
Have dealt with static for months! Finally just rinsed hair well with warm water in the shower as opposed to shampooing it. This removed all the shampoo/cont/product buildup, and GREATLY reduced the static!!
